Apr 21, 2010 Forbidden Knowledge helps YpsiGirl:

Quick update here:

I have been in CTN's Hot Line Studio the past two weeks learning the ropes of operating an entire mini television studio all by myself  lol- I have three episiodes under my belt now-

But I could not have done it without the guidence from Craig, former host of A2 CTN's Forbidden Knowledge.

Although he can not "touch" anything in the studio... he has been a great tutor for me.

In the first several episodes of "Happy 1/2 Hour with YpsiGirl" you will see him guiding me through my 30 minute shows, as I bring YOU along, showing you step by step as to how to get your own television show and air it on local T.V.

Forbidden Knowledge ran weekly for three years in Ann Arbor- but it was kicked off the airwaves... you can learn more as to why and how you can request his shows by visiting his site here:

Please note: The Forbidden Knowledge show is extremely controversial- and some peeps might automatically assume that  I "agree" with ALL of his political ideologies. To those of you who choose to "assume" any thing about me... I say:  "What Ever, Craig is a nice guy in person, a super teacher and I support all public access producers regardless of what they air- that is what public access is all about. Sharing your voice with your community on YOUR public t.v. channel."
For those of you who do not get comcast channel 17 here is one of Craig's most controversial episode's:

Just a quick little update here...

Jesse Sinatra with the Ypsi Underground and I are officially retired from our 7 week tour of duty at The Keystone Underground. We will keep you posted on the next venue... in the mean time jesse and I just taped our very first Hot Line studio show: Happy 1/2 Hour with YpsiGirl- last night. Hopefully one month from now we will have a weekly series Fridays at 7:00pm- on Comcast channel 17

We had an absolute blast every week at The Keystone, and I have over 20 hours of footage to edit during our stay... It will make for a grand episode which should air sometime in June. I will keep you posted and hit me up on the "contact me" link up top here if you would like to be on our mail list for future excitement.

Thursday Nite in Ypsi Baby!!!! Apr 8,2010

YpsiGirl presents…

“Jesse Sinatra and the Ypsi Underground. “
Thursdays 8pm @ Keystone Underground.

Pink Wig or Fedora Nite!!!

It looks like i am not the only chicky in the house sporting a pink wig! How wonderful to see more beauties in pink! Heather our sweet barmaid is now hip to the wig....and a few others are promising me they too will be someone else for the night! With this said... if you have not yet experienced an evening in which you will exclaim: "We are not in Ypsi anymore toto!" Then this is the night to walk into a magical portal right off Michigan ave down town ypsi baby!

Our 7th week here and there are even more new surprises... such as 5 new songs... including blues and even a Doors tune... .. if you have not checked us out, you could possibly help keep us here by coming tomorrow... awesome drink specials, and even $5.00 Shrimp Rice Bowls yummmmm!!!

Jesse breathes new life into the roaring 20’s booze culture, singing everlasting retro classics. Those who know him personally call him the hardest working man in the lounge business. For over thirty years this Detroit native has performed all over the United States- with Rock Bands, Orchestras, Trios etc…And now it is as if the Universe played a major role in bringing Jesse and Martin Simmons together to form what is now known as “The Ypsi Underground”. An extraordinary class act jazz and swing band.

Simmons, a piano/keyboard aficionado grew up in Detroit just blocks from Motown’s Hitsville. He has been performing for over 40 years, touring with the likes of Martha Reeves and The Commodores. Simmons gift at composing, arranging and playing offers listeners a distinct pleasure to the senses.

Rotating Jazz and Funk Bass players, include 26 year old Brennan Duncan Andes, Bass player for The Macpodz and 27 year old Russell Tessier, the youngest of the“Ypsi Underground” they play both electric and upright Bass. Funk, Blues and Jazz is obviously a second language for these talented players.

Every Thursday night you have the rare opportunity to be taken back into time with Jesse’s voice, listen in on some serious swing, Jazz and Funk instrumentals as well as improvisations and solos by Simmons and Tessier. The root to this band includes drums by Mike Scott and guest Bongo player, Hussian.

An added musical treat can be heard in-between sets. Martin Simmons plays the sax as if he were the pied piper on the corner of Michigan Ave and Washington Street.

Thursdays in Ypsilanti have been re-defined by Jesse Sinatra and the Ypsi Underground- if you are itching for a high end musical experience with no cover, a wide variety of martinis, super drink specials and the Lady Gaga of Ypsilanti, “Ypsigirl“ (formally known as “Safety Girl”) as your Mistress of Ceremonies, then this is the place to be!

YpsiGirl news and updates: Apr 7, 2010

YpsiGirl news and updates:
It has been two months since I have been able to edit- I had to sell some of my video equipment for our big move and to get my car back on the road. My external hard drives are full and my DVD burner died on me… I have about 20 hours of footage to capture and edit- hence the long ass delay in airing new episodes.  While I cannot at this time get a new hard drive I am excited to announce that I begin shooting a new weekly series in the hot line studio at CTN. I am hoping  come May we will have a weekly series on Fridays from 7:00pm to 7:30pm… and this will include a live call in show a few times a month.
Jesse and I have several programs in the works; here is the rundown of what we have been working on this past year…

  • Herbie's Haunt: Herby Tackett and his family have been putting on a residential haunt one night a year, in his driveway for 20 years. It is a wonderful Halloween spectacle that draws approximately 300 families. This past year, Ypsilanti Township got involved and threatened this family with loads of fines and even jail time. We happened to be there as the city inspector paid the family a visit… all I will say is that after witnessing the politics of Halloween on film in this blue collar neighborhood, Jesse and I decided to turn their story into a mini documentary and followed the Tackets for several weeks as they tried to fight the city fines etc.

  • Next is our first ever “Ypsi Reality show” Ypsi Girl and Michelle Shankwiler get a job as bar maids at Keystone Underground.  I have loads of footage to edit, and will honestly say that I am so glad I never got picked to be on any of those “real” reality shows after this experience.

  • But wait there are more shows…lol ...Jesse and I spent an entire weekend filming three nights in a row capturing Ypsi Night Life at 8 evening establishments in the city, including one special place that is truly a hidden secret in depot town that most of you are not familiar with.

  • Lastly… Yours truly represented at this year’s 2010 A2 Hash Bash, we heard seriously heart wrenching emotional interviews, heartfelt speakers and captured lots of eye candy….this should be an inspiring and fun episode to watch. Check out annarbor.com's photo of us ..lol here:

So there you have it…. Even though we may not have been on local public access television very much lately we still have been on the beat working our butts off filming and interviewing my all time favorite city!
See you soon through the air waves.
Licks & Lashes,

P.S.... when I am not filming I emcee every Thursday night @ Keystone Underground for my man and his delicious band The Ypsi Underground from 8-11pm!  Stop in, no cover...pink wigs are strongly encouraged as well as fedoras!  Enjoy fantastic drink specials, retro class act entertainment and yummy $5 shrimp bowls...
