And one more thing for you Ms. Oprah… I spent so much of my precious time making an audition video for your OWN network television show contest. After submitting our audition and that long ass application that took over an hour to finish I patiently waited 24 hours to see it up with all the other entries only to instead find a message in my inbox saying:
“There is a problem with your submission”
Your video did not meet the terms and conditions for submissions to our contest. Common reasons for rejections include length, inclusion of copyrighted materials, or inappropriate content. You may resubmit your entry, but if you choose to do so please read the contest entry instructions and modify your video so it meets all the requirements.
How did my precious little deflated ego take this message…? I actually cried my stupid ass off and ego said “Oprah DID it!!!” The next morning I laughed my smart ass off at the stupidity of egos reaction. I decided that I didn’t need your stupid contest anyway, but I secretly went over your rules for the contest, over and over again and just could not find a reason for my submission being rejected. I asked harpobear in the comments section of my “blank screen” video submission here… what the heck I did wrong? Guess what Oprah, it wasn’t me after all.

I tried again after finding this out, had to re-write the hour long application because your site threw it out after rejecting me and guess what Oprah… it is still your problem- Rejected again. My audition entry uploaded just fine on YouTube and even on your free video editing site- when your editing site sent me the link to my rendered QuickTime audition, guess what Oprah? It was not there.

So do I dare try this again for the 3rd time? I feel like this is insanity if I do, but ego sure hates living in public housing so if I do I sure won’t expect any different result. The only good to come out of this?… I will update you when I figure that one out.

My Rejected Oprah Audition

It was great fun to make this audition video with a local Ypsi author, Brien Shell.
I knew going into this that we don't have a chance at winning... but darn I thought we watered it down enough to be added with all the other entries.

Anyway, you can rest assured that the entire (unedited) 30 min episode will air in Ann Arbor & Ypsilanti on CTN's Comcast channel 17 in July 2010. If you would still like to vote for our show I bet a comment under the black screen on her audition site would be just fine lol. Here is the link: http://myown.oprah.com/audition/index.html?request=video_details&response_id=1435&promo_id=1  oh.. if you are reading this post from facebook you gotta visit my blog to see the audition video here:

Taping our 6th Episode

I'm super excited about tonight's taping. We have Brian Shell as our guest, author of "Every Day Single Mom." Brian is a facebook friend and I finally got to meet him in person yesterday. This man is a true gem in our city of Ypsilanti- just mouth watering to the eyes and if your lucky enough to converse with him you will be blessed with scintillating conversation! Ok... no more clues- you will have to wait for the show to air. I can't give away all our secrets...can I?

BTW- If you are looking to move why not think about my home town of Detroit, you seriously can buy a HOUSE for only $7000.
Here is a fantastic Detroit Tourism Video...Enjoy

It's on: May28th Friday 7pm

That is right folks.... "YpsiGirl's Happy 1/2 Show" premiers Friday May 28th @ 7pm on Comcast ch 17!

This is a first for me: I learn how to run an entire mini television studio while hosting the show at the same time. I decided for the first four episodes to take you all along the ride and to hopefully encourage others to take advantage of this wonderful FREE resource in Ann Arbor. BTW- Don't worry if you live in Ypsi, you can still have a show by working through a non-profit org in A2.

(I'm thinking about making "YpsiGirl" a non-profit org myself)... lol

So... in this first episode you will see how to operate the controls and learn when my period starts. lol

Each episode is a deconstructed version or metamorphosis of sorts- the second episode I operate the equipment while decorating the set... etc..

Our third episode we learn more about "audio" while we do something like a directors commentary about our 2009 Ypsilanti Heritage Festival show.

Forth Episode is: "Ypsi Night Life pt2" in which we are on the beat showing you an up close and personal look at Ypsi after dark on the the streets and in the bars.

Finally: We have GUEST'S on the 5th episode- How exciting it was to finally get all the way to interviewing interesting and beautiful peeps!

So there you have it... I have so much footage I need to edit for future episodes- just when my poor puter and all her helpers took a serious turn for the worst.

It will take me some time to get my home editing software up to date and operating properly- I gotta find more stuff to sell in order to do this...so I apologize to all of you Ypsi peeps and business's who can't wait to see the finished product's airing.

I also want to extend a special Thanks to Craig of Forbidden Knowledge T.V. with his superb and patient coaching.

Part One: jenny craig is a big fat lier

It's kind of funny how these articles got pulled a year ago from ehow...lol and other places online.  I referred to jenny craig in my latest post here-so i thought it appropriate to include this just in case anyone's ego take's what i write personally. <3

Big Brother is watching public access TV. Honey!

Where did the “community” in Community Television Network go?
As a long time anti corporate gal and real time human with issues and a throbbing, healing heart I am finding it more difficult these days to feel at home in a place that prides itself as “community” oriented. Their mission statement is simple:
“Community Television Network is committed to providing multimedia resources and programming to serve diverse public interests and strengthen the fabric of the Ann Arbor community.”
But it seems to me that at the same time they are choking the staff with a corporate stench behind closed doors. What I am speaking about here is my personal experiences as a resident of Ann Arbor- A “legal” registered voter of Ann Arbor.
CTN (Community Television network) was created by a group of community activists in an actual “home” back in the day- 1973 with a welcome mat at the front door.  Fast forward thirty seven  years later- I walk up to the NEW location’s front entrance- and  I have to be buzzed in as if I might be a terrorist.  If I am lucky enough to be “welcomed” it’s something like a Jenny Craig-step ford wife-ish forced friendly smile, which leaves me thinking who are they trying to fool?
Or simply nothing at all- kind of like when you are in line at the FIA building waiting to inquire about why your food stamps were cancelled without any notice, the person sitting behind the plastic window operates with a blank stare forcing  you to speak first. They hand you a stack of papers and give you a number with no emotion.
It is obvious that some big shot faceless peeps have decided that CTN has to be a more homogenized, “professional” entity.  The tension in the air is so thick I can feel the employee moral being drained from their once genuinely friendly, smiling “customer” service faces.
Faces I said- faces that I have been in front of since the early 90’s- faces that welcomed me with a smile and an endearing word to go along with it like “sweetie” or my personal fave, “honey”. These days I am lucky enough to get this kind of personalized treatment at the Coney Island.
So, as I begin this next assignment from the Universe- it is clear to me that I need to address what is happening to our “once” diverse community that was rich with personality and prided itself with an eclectic mix of community voices.  Maybe this is why I feel more at home in Ypsilanti. Maybe this is why that even though I live in A2, I prefer to go the few extra miles to buy my daughter an ice-cream cone from a family owned and smiling business. Maybe this is one of the several reasons why I am “YpsiGirl”.
Do you work for a faceless corporation or the city? Have they changed internal policies that are making you dread going to work? Are you and your coworkers overwhelmed and feel like you’re walking on pins and needles- just knowing that the PIC -i.e.: “people in charge” are watching you from the black ball in the ceiling? Guess what….  I want to hear from you! Stay anonymous, I promise I won’t’ tell anyone who YOU are. Contact me so that “someone” can be your voice for a hot second over the airwaves. I promise I will get the message across in a fun and emotionally charged heartfelt way- this just happens to be my style, honey!
